Mountain lodge and the meteorological station at Zavižan (1594 m) at Northern Velebit. Mountain lodge at Zavižan has capacity to accomodate 20 persons. Although it is relatively close to the Adriatic coast, if you decide to visit this mountain peak, keep in mind that you can expect a mountain climate with much lower temperatures comparing to the coastal area and it is usually quite windy up there. The minimum temperature that has been measured at meteorological station Zavižan is -24.5°C and the highest measured temperature is 27.6°C. Annual precipitation at Zavižan is 1898.8 mm, and the snow can be expected from mid-October until the second half of May. The largest ever measured height of snow is 320 cm.
