黄泉路：

      黄泉原指地下的泉水，黄泉路即地底下的路。古人认为人死后灵魂要到阴间，阴间在地下，叫阴曹地府，去的路自然也在地下，于是把人死后灵魂到达阴曹地府的路叫黄泉路。黄泉路既是死亡之路，所以，黄泉路也用来比喻死亡，用作阴曹地府的代称。

      过了鬼門関，就到黄泉路，黄泉路是一条宽约2米，长约50米的青石板路，路面不很平整。据宗教的说法，来到黄泉路不管有什么动静千万不要回头一直往前走，否则会有“孤魂野鬼”附身。

Acheron Road:

      Acheron means spring under the earth and Acheron Road is the road under the earth. The ancient people think that after death the ghosts of people will go to the underworld, and since the underworld is under the earth, naturally the road entering there is under the earth, as a result, they call the road through which people go into the underworld Acheron Road. As the Acheron Road is the road of the death, people also refer it to death and use it as another name of the underworld.
