ACROPOLIS OF ATHENS - AREOPAGUS
Athens
This is the view to the Acropolis of Athens from the hill of AREOPAGUS. The Areopagus comes from the Greek name Areios Pagos, translated "Ares Rock". It is north-west of the Acropolis and In classical times, it functioned as the high Court of Appeal for criminal and civil cases. There, in front of you, extends an excellent view of the southern side of the city. You can see the buildings of the Sky Observatory, the Ancient Agora of Athens with the Temple of Hephaestus/Theseion, the Philopappos Monument on top of Mouseion Hill, the Lykabettus Hill and other well known landmarks of Athens.
