A lovely gigapixel view from the summit of Mount Agassiz (elev. 13,893') in the Sierra Nevada Mountains near Aspendell, California. Compared to many peaks, this one is easy to access as it sits below Bishop Pass. It is also the easiest summit of the Palisade Crest. It is a scree climb up 2,000 feet from the main trail & yields a commanding view of the Sierras from distant Mt. Whitney/Mt. Williamson to the south going north towards Mt. Tom & beyond. Immediately to the south are the impressive 14er points of Mt. Sill, North Palisade (Middle Palisade behind), & 13er Mt. Winchell. The Palisade Glacier sits at the base of North Palisade, the largest glacier in the Sierras. To the west are many named peaks that I cannot list off. North one can see Mt. Humphreys, Mt. Tom, & even Mt. Morgan to Mt. Abbot. To the east are glimpses of the Owens Valley & the White Mountains in the distance. The summit rock sits on a bladed precipice w/ immediate drops down steep gullies to some heavily pronounced rock-floured tarns.
