Alabaster Laboratory in Volterra

The alabaster of Volterra is an evaporotic sedimentary rock of chalky origin. It is ductile and easy to shape; the processing requires commitment and skill and involves a real team of craftsmen who are dedicated to shaping objects of different shapes and sizes. So we have the squadratori, specialized in the production of square pieces, the tornitori who make circular or spherical objects, the ornatisti, masters of the bas-relief or high-relief, sculptors who control the base of drawings and, finally, employees in the finishing that gives at work the aesthetic details that distinguish it.
