Aerial Tramway Station at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska
Alaska

At the back of the Alyeska Hotel, two 60 passenger gondolas transport skiers, hotel guests, sight seers and workers to and from the top of Mount Alyeska on the Alyeska Aerial Tramway. The base station at the hotel is at 306 feet (93 meters) in elevation while the upper terminal is anchored at 2,334 feet (711 meters) above sea level. The 3,869 foot (1179 meter) span is traversed in 4 minutes in the winnter but is slowed to 7 minutes in the summer to accommodate sightseers. Maximum speed on the tram is 26 miles per hour (42 kph).

This panorama was made on May 13, 2010 just as the regular ski season drew to a close. The tram stays busy in the summer months taking tourists up to view the spectacular scenery and to eat at the restaurant at the summit.
