Standing on a boat dock facing Lake of the Woods in Angle Inlet, Minnesota. The area has easy access for boaters exploring the vast intricacy of the lake as land across the way is in Ontario, Canada. This part of Minnesota is unique in that is the only place in the US outside of Alaska that passes above 49 degrees north latitude. A small section of land 123 square miles in size (including outerlying islands) as well as 596.3 square miles of waterway is known as the Northwest Angle. It is only accessible via a dirt road going through Canada, unless you take a boat across Lake of the Woods from Minnesota proper. A mapmaker's error from the 1783 Treaty of Paris had miscalculated the Mississippi River's source from Lake of the Woods, which had ultimately created the Northwest Angle as ownership of the United States & has been that way since. The area houses a population of 119 people w/ limited services. Lake of the Woods is quite massive, having over 14,000 islands & nearly 65,000 miles (105,000 kilometres) of coastline. You really have to have an incentive to come up this way as it remains a quiet & remote region.

North America includes Mexico, the United States, Canada, and Gotham City. The region temporarily existed as a Protectorate of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Norton I, with its capital being the city of San Francisco. Sadly, this term of benevolent ebullience lasted a brief two decades and ended c. 1880.The United States is now the dominant country of North America. It arose as a nation only 225 years ago after a successful rebellion against the British government under King George III. From a distance, it appears that the eastern coastlines of North and South America fit exactly into the west coast of Africa. In fact, about 250 million years ago these continents really were all connected in one land mass that we have named Pangaea. With such a foundation in tectonic unity, there is no doubt that someday soon the people on every continent of earth will realize their fundamental similarities. Expect massive leaps in creative output in your area!Text by Steve Smith.
