Finlaystone Country Estate is home to several beautiful gardens , forests and walks . Also found in the park is a war memorial in honour of the soldiers who lost their lives during the war in Malaya.

The memorial is dedicated to the 2nd Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders who fought the Japanese forces in Malaya in 1942 . From the 1,000 strong battalion only 100 escaped after they were caught off balance due to bad communication and a lack of intelligence reports .

The ones who escaped were later captured and taken to Pudu Prison in Kuala Lumpar .
