View from the summit of Ash Creek Butte (elev. 8,378') near McCloud, California. The peak is an eroded volcano that is glacial gouged on the north and east sides. From the summit one has a fantastic view of Mt. Shasta's east side, plus many other peaks of the Cascade Range stretching from Mt. McLoughlin in Oregon down to Lassen Peak. Haze to the south from control burns was leaving the valleys & mountain ridges obscured. The Wintun, Hotlum, & Bolam Glaciers are all visible from this side w/ the Hotlum having noticeable crevasses.
