Minnewaska State Park is a great place to escape for an hour or an entire day. Being only 15 minutes outside of New Paltz makes it very convenient, and the miles of carriageways and footpaths just beg to be explored. What you might not know is that just inside the main entrance, there is a path that leads down to Awosting Falls. When the falls are active, which varies depending on the time of year and how much rain has recently fallen, you are treated to a really cool experience, especially if you walk *behind* the falls, as I did for this photo.

Be careful when trying this, as the rocks are VERY slippery.
