According to tradition, the Chapel of S. Miguel was donated by D. João I to D.Lopo Dias de Sousa for his grave and that of his descendants. Little remains today of the funerary apparatus of this chapel, where only the tomb of D.Diogo Lopes de Sousa, 2nd count of Miranda, remains. A tomb ark from the 15th century was transferred to the Imperfect Chapels of the 1930s, the same having happened to the contemporary altarpiece of the tomb of the 2nd count of Miranda.
