Bergamo: Basilica of St Maria Maggiore - Interior
Bergamo

Located in the center of the Upper City of Bergamo, the Basilica of St Maria Maggiore was founded in 1137 and is one of the key places of the city. The interior was reworked in Baroque style in 17th century and the 360 Photo evokes its bright, colorful and highly impressive athmosphere. The Basilica contains many important masterpieces. Among them, there are Renaissance paintings, 14th century Giottesque frescoes, a wooden choir with polychrome intarsia, a Baroque confessional by Andrea Fantoni and the tombs of the composer Gaetano Donizetti and his Maestro Simon Mayr. The walls are covered by large, colorful tapestries manufactured in 16th century in Florence and Flanders.
