A nice foot trail leads into the upper portion of Boquillas Canyon on the Texas side of the Rio Grande. The trail rises up over a small hill a hundred feet or so above the river then descends again to continue along the river bank. It is interesting to see how the topography changes so dramatically from the prairie to the steep mountain. And then, to think how the river cut through the mountains as they rose up. As you view this panorama you are looking across the river to Mexico. The small town of Boquillas is hidden just behind the tall sand dune across the Rio Grande.
