Braga, Church of Sao Vicente, nave
Portugal

There was a church here in the Middle Ages, of which a stone with a funerary inscription from the 7th century remained on the wall of the sacristy. Another tombstone, on the main façade, indicates the dates for the reconstruction of the temple in 1565 and 1691. It was the Cistercian friar Frei Luis de S. José (author of the current facade of Alcobaça) who designed this facade. Inside, the main altarpiece was built by Barcelos carver, Miguel Coelho, and S. Bento by master Tomé de Araújo. The valances and frames were designed in 1758 by André Soares. The tile panels of the chancel are from 1728 and portray the life of S. Vicente. The rest are from the 19th century.
