The first ascent to the top of Pedra do Bau occurred on August 20, 1940, when Cortez brothers managed this difficult task. Thanks to these visitors can rise through the fixed iron ladder rock undertaken by Dr. Luis Dumont Villares for 10 years. He also undertook a house on top of the stone made ​​of brick, copper roof and well served by water, because there were compartments for receiving and storing rainwater, built by Floriano Rodrigues Pinheiro, overnight climbers.
