Gigapixel early morning view from the summit of Caesar Peak (elev. 8,920') in the Trinity Alps Wilderness near Weaverville, California. The peak is the third highest of the Trinity Alps. Great views in all directions of the Red, White, & Green Trinities w/ the nearby peaks of Wedding Cake, Mt. Hilton, Sawtooth Mountain, & nearby Thompson Peak, the highest in the range. From here one can see Mt. Shasta as the high peak to the northeast, the Yolla Bolla Mountains to the far south, the Central Valley in haze, much of the Klamath Mountains going north & Mirror plus Sapphire Lakes below. This area is all comprised of granite, a splitoff of the Sierra Batholith further south as earthquakes & faults transported these mountains to the northwest. There is a small glacier visible directly below Thompson Peak & one can see a glimpse of Grizzly Lake below it.
