Camp Leakey, Tanjung Puting National Park, Kalimantan

Camp Leakey is the research centre and Orangutan rehabilitation programme, established in 1971 by Dr. Birute Galdikas. It is situated in the Tanjung Puting National Park, Kalimantan. The centre was set up to rehabilitate orangutans to the wild. The camp can be reached by boat from Pangalan Bun. A leisurely trip there and back takes three days. At the camp, orangutans can be viewed at feeding stations in the jungle.
