Canale Monterano Solfatara
Lazio

The Monterano Reserve is characterized, in addition to the wealth of its natural heritage, its biodiversity, its archaeological and monumental heritage, also for the variety of geological landscape. Some environments are of particular interest, due, for example, the presence of areas highly mineralized or with post volcanic phenomena in place.

The geological site of the Solfatara of Monterano, extensive mineralized area on the left bank of the F. Mignone, at the foot of the cliff of Monterano has been included in the recent publication edited by the Lazio region "The geological heritage of Lazio: Guide to the Geological sites" that illustrates some of the most important geological of our region.
