Cathedral Wash cuts sharply through the limestone on its short journey to join the Colorado River. This panorama was taken not far below the trailhead in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in northern Arizona. This hike is relatively easy but does have some mild exposure to heights and some scrambling down/up cliffs. The route is fairly well marked either by worn footpath or by a few rock cairns which mark the best places to descend/ascend the short cliff faces. The reward is a beautiful beach side view of the Colorado River at Cathedral Rapid/Riffle.
Rotate your view from looking down-canyon 180 degrees to looking up the canyon. The high cliffs in the background are a portion of the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument.
