The Cedar Mountain overlook lies within the Cedar Mountain Recreation Area, a series of graded roads and ATV tracks around and up the flanks of Cedar Mountain. The road to the overlook is unpaved but graded. The overlook provides a fantastic view of the San Rafael Swell and the canyons carving into the visible bulge in the earth's crust. At 7000+ feet, the overlook and picnic areas offer a cooler refuge from the heat of the desert below. The picnic tables are cleverly scattered among huge boulders that offer shade and privacy.
