With events such as David Rogers’ Big Bugs and glass by Dale Chihuly, the Desert Botanical Garden is the Southwest destination attraction. Sculptor David Rogers has created 11 enormous, whimsical bugs on display in the garden during the Winter of 2011 -2012. The sculptures weigh from 300 to 1,200 pounds and range from seven feet to 25 feet long. This panorama is taken outside the main entrance to the Garden and shows the Desert Towers glass creations by Dale Chihuly. Five hundred and twenty-five Garden members, visitors and friends, contributed over $774,000 to the Desert Towers Invitational to make these sculptures a permanent part of the Garden experience. The Garden has 145 acres with 65 acres under cultivation. There are over 50,000 plants on display maintained by 104 staff members. Over 600,000 people visit the Garden every year. The Garden is located just east of Phoenix, Arizona in Papago Park.
