Christmas Lights and Assembly Hall at Temple Square, Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City

Back in 1965, the tradition began to illuminate Temple Square from Thanksgiving to New Year's Eve. What started with 40'000 lights has since turned into a stunning event attracting well over a million visitors each year. Estimates are between 1 and 1.5 million lights which are installed by a 100 people between August and Thanksgiving. As one of the officials said, the largest tree is decorated with 75'000 lights.

The Assembly Hall is one of the historic buildings at Temple Square in Salt Lake City. It was built by LDS Pioneers between 1877 and 1882.
