The church St. Lorenz is one of the two main churches in the city center of Nürnberg. It is built in gothic style. The Nassauer House is the last existing medieval family tower in Nürnberg. In the early 11th century Nürnberg was founded on both sides of the river Pegnitz. In 1219 Nürnberg received town rigths and Imperial Immediacy. There is an Imperial Castle in Nürnberg. Many Imperial Diets were held in Nürnberg. The city was a most important center of commerce and was the center of the Renaissance in Germany.
