Cistercian abbey in Krzeszów (Güssau)

In 1242 Princess Anne, widow of Henry the Pious, founded in Krzeszow (Grüssau) the Benedictine monastery, imported there from the Czech Opatovice.

Her grandson Bolko I Raw, the Duke of Jawor, in 1289 bought the goods of the monastery, and in 1292 founded the Cistercian abbey, who came from Henryków.

Minster became the mausoleum of the princes Swidnica-Jawor. Rested here: Bolko I Raw, Bolko (early died son of Bolko I), Bernard Świdnicki, Henry I of Jawor, Henry II of Świdnica, Bolko II Small.

Thanks to gifts from princes and from private persons the abbey became one of the largest landowners in Silesia.
