The Côa Museum is a project of the architects Camilo Rebelo and Tiago Pimentel, with the collaboration of the G.O.P in the projects of specialties, winner of a competition among other 41 national and foreign proposals. The project of the two architects is based on an enormous concrete monolith with a texture similar to that of the local shale, half-buried in the top of a hill, whose principle is the integration in the landscape.
The building consists of four floors, covering / Floor 2, Floor 1, Floor 0 and Floor-1, organized by a particular system of vertical and horizontal circulations. The coverage includes pedestrian access to the museum and parking lanes for vehicles. It also incorporates panoramic areas, two lifts and a staircase create the direct connection to the entrance lobby of the museum.
