Comb Ridge, San Juan Hill Peak, San Juan County, Utah, USA
Utah

This area of southern Utah is called Rincon (Spanish for "corner").  Here Comb Wash and Comb Ridge meet the San Juan River. This peak on Comb Ridge is near the top of what's called San Juan Hill.

In the late 1800's Mormon pioneers traveled through this place on their way to what is now Bluff, Utah.  They managed to get their wagon train up on the mesa above by navigating the steep rock ravine (San Juan Hill) seen in this image (looking down and to the east).

In the distance to the south can be seen the San Juan River.  The sharp mountain peak on the other side of the river is the Mule's Ear - a very sacred place to ancient and modern native Americans.

Today this place is visited by history buffs, nature seekers and river floaters.
