Gigapixel view from the summit of Mt. Conness (elev. 12,590') in the Sierra Nevada Mountains near Tioga Pass, California. The mountain is on the edge of Yosemite National Park w/ sweeping views of endless granite country & domes in all directions. Looking south one can see the high peaks of Mt. Ritter & Mt. Lyell w/ small alpine glaciers. Half Dome, Tenaya Lake, Mount Hoffmann, & the Grand Canyon of the Tuolumne are visible to the west & southwest. To the north is North Peak & Matterhorn Peak. Looking east one can see Mount Warren & Tioga Crest. A number of lakes are visible including the glacial tarns of Conness Lake directly below Conness Glacier. Also visible is a portion of Roosevelt Lake to the west & Young Lakes to the south. Mount Conness is relatively easy to climb & a popular objective. The approach I took was from Saddlebag Lake & the summit ridge involves a knife edge w/ significant drops on both sides.
