Crossing the rails unguarded

While driving on my Fall Phototour of South Africa on my Way to Cradock, I tried to get a bit off the beaten track. The turnoff is just outside Burgersdorp on the Eastern Cape, and this stretch of road on the R397 was actually one of the nicest experiences of the trip. It is not a hardened surface, but I could comfortably drive at around 80 to 100 km/h without taking any risks. I drove for around three hours on this and other sideroads and only encountered three cars during that whole time. Gorgeous!
