Dun Beag Broch, Skye
Scotland

Dun Beag is one of the best preserved brochs on Skye. Usually found at the top of hills such structures are only found in the north and west of Scotland and outlying islands.

A Broch is an Iron Age structure designed to both impress and defend. Their general layout comprised two concentric dry stone walls with a stairway or access within the walls to the upper floors. This would have been easily defensible for an extended family and their livestock.
