Elm Hengstboden
Switzerland

Made a nice hike with old friends walking from Elm Ämpächli to Elm Obererbs. We took the aerial cableway up from Elm.

The peasants lived in summer in these mountain pasture huts.

Here you have nice view to the Swiss Tectonic Arena Sardona with the huge whole Martinsloch.

See also Swiss Tectonic Arena Sardona

See also in German Martinsloch.

On the right side you see the valley going up to the Panix Pass. The Russian General Suvorov crossed the Panix pass in winter 1799 with his Russian army. Before Suvorov had already crossed with his army the passes Gotthard, Kinzig and Pragel. It says "Suvorov commenced a trek through the deep snows of Panix Pass and into the 9,000-foot mountains of the Bündner Oberland, by then deep in snow. Thousands of Russians slipped from the cliffs or succumbed to cold and hunger, eventually escaping encirclement and reached Chur on the Rhine, with the bulk of his army intact at 16,000 men".  From Alexander Suvorov
