Enkhuizen - Drommedaris
Netherlands

The Drommedaris Tower is a historic gate in the City of Enkhuizen. It was built around 1540.

The Drommedaris is the southern gateway of the city Enkhuizen. The building is put down as a defense at the entrance of the Old Port. The artillery basement and the ground floor area date from 1540 and were the original building. The upper chamber has a ribbed vault. Above the building on the roof was a structure containing prison cells still on the first floor of the current building can be found. Above the gate is a cell for prisoners sentenced to death.
