Castle Greillenstein

The first written mention of Greillenstein dates to the year 1371st 1479 was the rule in the possession of the Lords of Dachbeckh, later belonged to the high fields and the Lords of Volkra. Since 1534 Greillenstein is in possession of the Lords (later Earl) of Kuefstein, whose best-known family member of the Baroque poet Johann Ludwig von Kuefstein was.

The current castle was Kuefstein by Hans Lorenz and his son Hans Georg III. of Kuefstein in the years 1560 to 1604 built, while older parts in the new building have been integrated. 1620 occupied the army of Emperor Ferdinand II the castle. Shortly before the end of the Thirty Years War, it was 1645 by Swedish troops invaded. Hans Georg IV of Kuefstein and Hans Leopold von Kuefstein led to the turn of 17 at 18 Century alterations to the castle, it was the gravel courtyard and the south side with architecture provide plastic. The interior was around 1770, partly renewed. In the 19th Century, artists such as Franz Grillparzer and Anton Romako in Greillenstein on.
