The Grösse Kapelle, situated 1,757 meters above sea level deep in the Fee Vispe valley, was built in 1687 by a local stonemason and master builder, Anton Ruppen, who led the construction of the chapel. In 1704, a mural staircase giving access to the Capela da Graça was built and expanded in 1747. This is how the place gained the name Zur Hohen Stiege. Inside the chapel there are notable works of art, such as the magnificent main altar (1695-1709). It is probably the work of an ancient Italian master. Between 1956 and 1958 the chapel and its furniture underwent an exhaustive restoration and between 1982 and 1983 an exterior renovation was carried out under the direction of architect David Casetti. For the 100th anniversary of the Saas-Fee parish in 1993, the 15 rosary chapels with figures and paintings were completely renovated. The Grösse Kapelle is the largest chapel on the Kapellenweg, a pleasant and pleasant path, especially in the summer months, that connects Saas Fee to Saas Grund in Switzerland, practically all along the gorge of the Alpine Gorge. A path with majestic views and which has 15 small chapels along its route, and each one tells the story of the life of Jesus Christ, with the focal point of the entire trail being the Gnadenkapelle, Chapel of Mercy, known as Zur Hohen Stiege or the Grösse Kapelle. The Kapellenweg or Path of Chapels may be inaccessible in the winter months. The inhabitants of the four valley communities, Saas Fee, Saas Grund, Saas Almagell and Saas Balen come together at the chapel festival on September 8th (“Acht Taga Herbscht”). For a long time, the inhabitants of Macugnaga, that is, the neighboring Anzasca Valley, made pilgrimages to the chapel on this day, which commemorates the birth of the Virgin Mary.

Para o 100º aniversário da paróquia de Saas-Fee, em 1993, as 15 capelas do rosário com figuras e pinturas foram totalmente renovadas. A Grösse Kapelle é a maior capela do Kapellenweg, um simpático e prazeroso caminho, principalmente nos meses de verão, que liga Saas Fee a Saas Grund na Suíça, práticamente todo ao longo do desfiladeiro da Gorge Alpine. O Kapellenweg ou Caminho das Capelas poderá estar inacessível nos meses de Inverno. Os habitantes das quatro comunidades do vale, Saas Fee, Saas Grund, Saas Almagell e Saas Balen reúnem-se no festival da capela no dia 8 de setembro (“Acht Taga Herbscht”). Durante muito tempo, os habitantes de Macugnaga, ou seja, do vizinho Vale de Anzasca, peregrinavam à capela neste dia, que comemora o nascimento da Virgem Maria.
