The south side of the new Guangzhou Library, located in Zhuzhiang New Town, on the banks of the Pearl River on Flower City Square in the Guangzhou Central Business District (CBD). It covers an area of some 100,000 sq m and contains almost 4M books. With seating for over 4000 people itt is very much state of the art with total WiFi coverage, 500 public use computers and 4000 wired internet connections. The building was started on the 20 February 2006 and opened officially on 28 December 2012. The exterior wall is said to resemble the many layers of culture, history and knowledge in what might be viewed as a representation of stacks of books.
