Holy Hermitage of Mother God [Theotokou] Sgourokefali Village - Episkopi
Greece

According to tradition, the name of Sgourokefali was a shepherd who was called Sgouros. Sgouros was the first villager who built on the hilltop, which in Crete called head. From this came the name "Sgouros the Head", and later Sgourokefali.

To get to Sgourokefali coming from Heraklion by the New National Heraklion Aghios Nikolaos, turn right on asphalt road to Episkopi. You will pass the

bifurcation for the Village of Olives and heading to the Diocese, reaching crossroads will find informative sign the following, at 2 km, you will reach

your destination. Is the next village after the Diocese.
