面對浩瀚的太平洋，在強烈東北風的吹襲下堆起了幾層樓高的沙丘，最後沙子漫過台地，為鵝鑾鼻半島著上金黃色的腰帶，腰帶就一咯延伸到了船帆石。沙丘原為一個活動的地形景觀，近年因為防風定沙的造林目標與台26號公路，路堤的攔阻，使風吹砂的景觀失色不少。
