Huiji Temple Snake and Frog Stones
Taipei

This site was discovered by Awano Dennojou in 1896 (29th year of Meiji Emperor) and was the earliest documented archeological discovery in Taiwan. Not many scholars, however, researched this site during the Japanese Occupation Era or after the Second World War.

It was not until in 1981 that archeologist Huang Shihchiang began researching the site again, discovering the Zhishanyan Cultural layer.Then from 1995 to 2001, Liu Yichang made several investigations of the site and was able to determine that there were multicultural layers and locate their distribution.
