Istria

Pasin Castle is the biggest and the best-preserved medieval fortress in Istria and was first mentioned in written documents in 983. The 9th Century castle of Pasin (Kastell) is build dramatically on a cliff top overlooking a gorge and the entrance is over a drawbridge. The current layout dates to the 14th and 16th Centuries when some additions were made to the castle and the four wings were joined forming a courtyard.
