Janovas, Panoramic view, Ara River Valley, Huesca, Spain

A general view of Jánovas, the ghost village. Making a close up you can see the group of ruins. On 1950, someone at Madrid decided that it was a good idea to build a huge hydroelectric dam. The project was to bury the village under the waters. Time passed and inhabitants did not accept the economic proposal of the Electric Company. Then, some of them were threatened, some buildings were burnt. Finally, the last inhabitant, a hero, a man tired of struggling against the powerful company, left his home with his family.... and... the project was abandoned.... It never started up. Nowadays, the village has been partially reconstructed and even itis possible to stay in a hotel
