Lamoille Canyon is one of several glacially carved canyons in the Ruby Mountains of Nevada, situated in the basin and range region of the western United States.  Reaching altitudes above 11,000 feet, the range captures significant precipitation creating a cool green oasis above the surrounding desert.

Lamoille Lake rests at an elevation of 9740 feet just below and on the north side of Liberty Pass and Liberty Peak.
