Les Halles de René
France
René's halls were built in 1535 thanks to Jacques Hamelin, born to René, bishop of Tulle confessor and chaplain of François 1er, who obtained the right to build the halls and to hold fairs and markets there. They rest on 16 wooden poles wedged on stones, the roof is made of tiles and slates. The halls consisted of a nave with two aisles. These disappeared during the establishment of the traffic lanes in front of the halls.
