Lewis landscape, Outer Hebrides
Scotland

Lewis is the northern part of the isle of Harris and Lewis, the largest island of the Outer Hebrides. The landscape largely consists of flat, peat moorlands. As one of the first places to be settled in the British Isles, the island has a varied cultural history, stretching back around 8,000 years.

Some of its most famous items of archaeological interest include the Callanish Stones and the Lewis chessmen.
