Liverpool Bascule Bridge
England

This is the refurbished 78 year old Bascule Bridge just minutes after its re-opening on Wednesday 25 August 2010. The bridge had been closed for over 2 years and reportedly cost £600,000 to restore. Unfortunately the bridge will never really "open" again, I believe this is because it had to be further strengthened to carry todays much heavier loads. The bridge carries Regent Road between Stanley Dock and Collingwood Dock. Several weeks after its re-opening it was again closed to traffic and pedestrians, this was not due to any problems but because the Stanley Dock area was taken over by a Hollywood Film Crew to shoot scenes for the Captain America film.
