It’s a gray morning as we look at the east facing side of Metate Arch. Metate Arch is the more photographed of the two arches in Devil’s Garden, a wonderland of fantastical sandstone arches and hoodoos that look like goblins and gnomes. Devil’s Garden is a 200 acre park that is located right next to a BLM campground off Hole-in-the-Rock Road in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. There is no trail so you are free to wander among the formations. Metate Arch is a delicate arch while Mano is more robust and often traversed by visitors.
