When I arrived in Andenes it felt like the last outpost before the North Pole. It was snowing but it was too warm for the snow to stay on the ground. I had ridden my motorbike all the way from Scotland and today I had trouble using the clutch on the bike as my hands were numb with the cold. A few hours later an amazing thing happened, the bad weather that had been with me for a week turned good and the sun came out! This North coast village gave me a great opportunity to see and photograph the midnight sun. This far North at this time of year the sun does not set, at midnight the sun is still above the horizon and to the North.
