Monument to Victory

10.12.2006. - Kod sela Ošlje Stupa u općini Dubrovačko primorje jučer je svečano otkriven središnji spomenik svim poginulim braniteljima Južnog bojišta. Spomenik nazvan "Spomenik pobjede" djelo je akademskog kipara Nikole Vučkovića iz Metkovića, a kamene kocke simboliziraju hrvatski grb i obrambeni bedem prema istoku. Ideja za postavljanje spomenika nastala je prije šest godina, a uz braniteljske udruge proizašle iz Domovinskog rata, realizirali su je Dubrovačko-neretvanska županija, općina Dubrovačko primorje te Ministarstvo obitelji, branitelja i međugeneracijske solidarnosti. Na svečanosti su uz predstavnike općine Dubrovačko primorje, susjednih gradova i općina te Županije bili i Jadranka Kosor, potpredsjednica Vlade RH i ministrica obitelji, branitelja i međugeneracijske solidarnosti, kontraadmiral Zdravko Kardum, zapovjednik HRM i izaslanik predsjednika Mesića, županica Dubrovačko-neretvanske županije Mira Buconić i saborski zastupnik Frano Matošić. ajedno s kontraadmiralom Kardumom spomenik je svečano otvorila ministrica Kosor. Obraćajući se prisutnima ministrica je obećala pomoć u daljnjem uređenju spomen obilježja te izgradnju spomen – sobe kao podsjetnika na sve poginule. Blagoslov novootkrivenu spomeniku udijelio je don Mato Puljić, župnik župe Ošlje – Stupa. Spomenik se nalazi na brdu Vjetreni mlin odakle se pruža lijep pogled na Mali Ston i zaljev Bistrina, a gdje se nalazila posljednja crta obrane prema dolini Neretve koju su držali mahom borci metkovske 116. brigade pri čemu su mnogi položili svoje živote. Uz predstavnike oružanih snaga RH, na otvaranju su bili i Dubrovački trombunjeri koji su pucnjima iz svojih trombona odali počast poginulima.
