MORRO ESPLANADE

Where Men Died

Look across the open ground in front of you and imagine you are an English soldier who was just ordered to attack Castillo San Felipe del Morro. Imagine 200 muskets and 20 cannons pointed at you. Spanish defenders created this open ground called the esplanade, to provide a field of fire for shooting anyone attacking them.
