Møyskriv, at the cliff, Lårdalstigen
Norway

Møyskriv or 'The Virgin's Leap' is a deep split, which falls vertically from the top to the bottom some 600 meters below. A saga tells the story of a young girl who was condemned to death, bus was given the chance to go free if she could jump over the gap between the two stone blocks at the top of the split in the rock. She managed the challenge and went free - hence the name!

There is a story from here about the time they tried to send timber down the cliff with the help of a capstan and rope. The attempt was a disaster with the whole capstan tipping over and disappearing down the mountain together with rope and the timber!
