The palace of the Kutai Kartanegara Sultanate was built in 1963 as a replacement for the previous palace burned and was inaugurated on 25 November 1971 by Governor Wahab Abdoel Sjahranie, then handed over to the Ministry of Education and Culture dated February 18, 1976. Kedaton Hall has now been built as the residence of Sultan Aji Muhammad Salehuddin II has been named back in 2002. Museum formerly the palace buildings Kutai Sultanate was founded in 1932 by the Dutch who gave the palace to the Sultan Adji Parikshit Muhammad in 1935.
