Gigapixel view from atop Mushroom Rock (elev. 6,224') near Bartle, California. The mountain is easily accessed from the nearby Pacific Crest Trail & has a somewhat decent view towards Mt. Shasta to the northwest (in the stormy clouds), east towards the higher lava plains & south towards the Lassen Peak area. The summit boulder does have an appearance like a mushroom, comprised of glassy plates of andesite. Various cairns are placed on the summit rocks & old wiring indicate perhaps an old weather station? The USGS survey marker is located on the summit rocks to the south, dated 1948.
